UP HOSTS and WINS World University Championship in Handball

On this day in 2022, The University of Pristina emerged victorious in the men’s competition of the 2022 FISU University World Cup of handball, held in Kosovo. 

The home team defeated Kangwon University from Korea with a score of 33-30 in an exciting match. This historic event represented Kosovo’s first-ever staging of a global sporting tournament, and the local community celebrated the team’s incredible accomplishment.

In the women’s competition, Korea National Sports University demonstrated their supremacy by winning gold, defeating the University Castilla/La Mancha team from Spain by a score of 32-22. The fierce confrontations between the fourteen university teams, which included eight men’s teams and six women’s teams, gripped the crowd and demonstrated the high level of competition.
