The Kosova Security Forces (KSF) was officially launched

On this day in 2009, a year after the declaration of independence in 2008, the Republic of Kosova launched the Kosova Security Force (KSF). This day marks an important step towards consolidating the country, with the army is one of the pillars of statehood. Earlier, the role of the Kosova Security Force was fulfilled by the Kosova Defense Forces (TMK), a civilian organization with a lifespan from 1999 to 2009.

TMK came as a result of the Rambuje Agreement in 1999, which foresaw the disarmament of the Kosova Liberation Army, the KLA (UÇK), only to be followed by TMK as the successor of the former. previously Kosova, as part of the Yugoslav federation, did not have the right to an army. For Kosova, as a new state where the people under the name KLA organized the fight for freedom, the military has particular importance and is loved by all its citizens without distinction. KSF is a multi-ethnic, professional, armed military force that reflects the ethnic diversity of the people of the Republic of Kosova.

As in many countries, the supreme commander of our military is the President of the Republic of Kosova. The military carries out many humanitarian and social activities in our society. Finally, its primary mission is to protect the territorial sovereignty and integrity, citizens, property, and interests of the Republic of Kosova. KSF partakes in military exercises such as  “Defender Europe 21”, an annual multinational exercise in Europe and Africa designed to build readiness and interoperability between the US military, NATO, and other partners. Recently, the KSF sent its troops on the first peacekeeping mission in Kuwait, which will contribute to peace and security at the international level alongside the US and strategic partners.
