Rona Nishliu represents Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012

On this day in 2012, Rona Nishliu, a talented Kosovar singer, made history by representing Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, held in Baku, Azerbaijan. With her powerful song Suus, Nishliu became the first singer from Kosovo to represent Albania in the contest. She achieved an impressive fifth place in the final, earning 146 points, which remains Albania’s best result in the contest to date.

The Eurovision Song Contest, created on May 24, 1956, by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has been a prominent platform for showcasing talented singers and musicians from across Europe. Although Kosovo is ineligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, Nishliu’s representation of Albania demonstrates the determination and talent of Kosova-born singers in the competition.
