Peja Beer sold in major Swiss supermarket

On this day in 2012, Kosova’s Peja Beer was first made available to be bought in 460 branches throughout Switzerland’s Coop Supermarkets. This is a significant date as it shows that Kosovar products can and will succeed in foreign markets. Products can reach new markets through the help of engaged and active diaspora professionals who have made it their life’s work to connect Kosova with the world and share its goods. For Rexhep Berisha, the export of Peja Beer to Switzerland is itself symbolic as he hails from the region of Peja, Kosova.

This economic contribution by the diaspora is a vital part of Kosova’s push toward global recognition at the citizen-to-citizen level. By utilizing economic public diplomacy, we can introduce the world to the quality products made in Kosova, allowing them to gain a better understanding of our country and its capabilities through our exports. The successful export of a single product from Kosova to foreign markets serves as a catalyst for increased market access for additional goods manufactured in Kosova making this date one to celebrate with a can of Peja Beer.
