On this day, the FIBA U18 European Championship Division C began in Prishtina.
Armenia, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Ireland, Kosova, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, and San Marino competed for the championship. The competition gave a platform for young basketball players to demonstrate their skills on a global level. Prishtina presented a captivating competition that highlighted these young players’ abilities and promise. The event stressed collaboration, dedication, and sportsmanship, promoting both basketball talent development and international cultural exchange.
Kosova won the FIBA U18 European Championship Division C for the first time, capturing their first-ever title. Rron Ukaj, a 17-year-old power forward, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after contributing significantly to Kosova’s win. Ukaj’s remarkable effort in the championship game against Cyprus, in which he scored 17 points, collected 8 rebounds, and made a steal and a block, helped his team to victory. Ukaj continually demonstrated his abilities throughout the event and finished second in efficiency. He averaged 14.6 points per game, 12.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks.
Other notable players on the All-Star Five roster included Polys Iliadis of Cyprus, Darragh O’Sullivan of Ireland, Roman Tomatis of Monaco, and Vadim Raducan of Moldova. These players made big contributions to their teams’ success.
Kosova’s victory, as well as the spirit of youth basketball and international competition, were celebrated at the 2018 FIBA U18 European Championship Division C.
