On this day in 2014, AIBA granted Kosova full membership, recognizing the country’s commitment to the sport and desire to contribute to the global boxing community.
Kosova’s boxing journey demonstrates the power of sports diplomacy and athletes’ and authorities’ capacity to cross political barriers. It not only gave Kosovar boxers a chance to shine but also represented the nation’s strength and determination in the face of adversity.
Back in August 2012, Kosova made its first steps toward full membership in the International Boxing Association (AIBA). However, it only got provisional membership, making Kosovo AIBA’s 195th federation, which was an important milestone for both the country and the sport of boxing.
The Kosova Boxing Federation comprises 27 registered boxing clubs throughout the country that host a variety of boxing events throughout the year.
