Kosova Chairs SEECP for the first time

On this day in 2019, Kosova assumed the Chairmanship-in-Office of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), marking a historic moment as it chaired the regional agenda for the first time. Initiated in 1996, SEECP is a regional process dedicated to fostering good neighborly relations and transforming Southeast Europe (SEE) into an area of peace, security, stability, and cooperation, with the ultimate goal of full integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

The SEECP Parliamentary Assembly, established to enhance parliamentary cooperation, plays a vital role in promoting peace, security, stability, and good-neighboring relations in the region. Kosova formalized its participation in SEECP activities in 2014, achieving full membership in 2015.

Kosova’s Chairmanship thematic priorities encompass Connectivity, Youth, and Culture and Tourism. Against the backdrop of slow integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, these priorities are considered crucial for advancing regional cooperation. The motto “SEECP regional cooperation 4EU&ME” underscores Kosova’s commitment to regional collaboration for European integration and the well-being of the people in the region.

The SEECP Chairmanship signifies a significant opportunity for Kosova to shape the regional agenda, emphasizing shared priorities for the entire region. This date holds particular importance for Kosova as it marks the first occasion the country chairs SEECP, showcasing its growing role in regional cooperation and commitment to promoting stability and integration. Kosova’s focus on connectivity, youth, culture, and tourism underscores the strategic areas deemed vital for regional development and cooperation. The SEECP Chairmanship enables Kosova to intensify diplomatic activities, strengthen links with regional and international organizations, and contribute to the realization of common goals and priorities for the region.
