On this day in 2015, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced that the Basketball Federation of Kosova (FBK) has officially become the 215th member of the world basketball family. This decision comes as a result of the acceptance of the Kosova Olympic Committee by the International Olympic Committee in December 2014. This is a historic moment for the country (as after 16 years of separation from the former Yugoslavia in 1999) Kosova can, starting 2015, officially compete with its own flag, emblem and anthem in all European and world competitions of FIBA, whether with clubs or representatives.
