First edition of DAM Festival held in Prishtina

On this day, February 20, 2006, a landmark moment occurred for young aspiring artists from Kosova and classical music enthusiasts alike with the inauguration of the DAM Festival. This international festival of young musicians, established in Prishtina, has since become an annual event, attracting classical talents from across the globe.

The festival’s founders, only a year into its inception, went on to establish the Music Art Center DAM, further enriching Kosova’s cultural landscape. A distinguishing feature of the DAM Festival is its blend of classical, contemporary, and traditional music, marking it as a pioneering event in Kosova’s cultural and musical scene at the time of its establishment.

Spanning approximately 10 days, the festival hosts around 10 concerts at various Prishtina venues, including the Palace of Youth and Sports, the National Theatre of Kosova, the Faculty of Arts, St. Anthony Catholic Church, and several Jazz Bars or Printing houses. It has welcomed musicians from prestigious music schools worldwide, such as the Academy of Music of the University of Zagreb, Croatia, Kraków, Poland, and Zürich, Switzerland.
