On this day, the highly anticipated “Manifesta 14” commenced in Prishtina.
“Manifesta” is a renowned European nomadic biennial contemporary art exhibition established in the early 1990s. It showcases different art forms, performances, events, and workshops. Every two years, the exhibition travels to a different European city, providing a platform for artists from various backgrounds to engage with local communities and address pressing social and political issues.
“Manifesta 14” offered an exceptional opportunity for artists from Kosovo and around the globe to convene and showcase their works. The festival sparked a surge of artistic expression in the city and facilitated significant cultural exchanges, enhancing Prishtina’s already vibrant art scene. Moreover, the event fostered thought-provoking dialogues between artists and audiences.
Throughout its remarkable 100-day duration from inception to October 30, 2022, “Manifesta 14” drew over 800,000 visitors from across the globe.
The theme of the edition was reclaiming public spaces, involving the transformation of largely neglected areas of the city into revitalized venues for artistic expression. These once-neglected sites were beautifully restored for the event and now serve as valuable public assets for the city.
“Manifesta 14” in Prishtina left an enduring impression, empowering artists, engaging audiences, and revitalizing urban spaces, solidifying its position as a significant cultural event in the region.
